Final Fantasy IV

Final Fantasy IV was first released on the SNES in 1991 (in the US as Final Fantasy II). Since then, it has been re-released and ported to different consoles, with the most recent being in 2005/2006 with Final Fantasy IV Advance on the Gameboy Advance. Pick it up if you can!

The game was one of the first to have character development and a complex plot, and was the beginning for a lot of now familiar Final Fantasy elements. It also has Crystals!

The game's hero is Cecil Harvey, one Dark Knight of the Kingdom of Baron, and commander of it's airship fleet, the Red Wings. Cecil is following orders from the King to retrieve the Crystals - for what purpose Cecil doesn't know. What he does know is that the means of gaining these Crystals - killing and stealing - is wrong. But when he questions his orders, the King is most displeased and strips him of his command. Cecil ends up being sent on a seemingly minor errand to deliver a Bomb Ring to the nearby Mist Village. Cecil leaves Baron for Mist the following day, although not a little bit of angsting. He is accompanied by his best friend Kain Highwind, who was ordered to join him after trying to reason with the King in Cecil's defense.

We ♥ Kain

Kain is the proud commander of the Dragoons of Baron, and best friend of Cecil. Both were orphaned at an early age and grew up together, along with Rosa Farrell, the white Mage of the game. Kain is desperately in love with Rosa, but she only has eyes for Cecil. And while he might not say much, inside that tears him up, although he tries to control his jealous and bitter feelings. Despite that though, Kain stands by Cecil when the King dismisses him, but later on, those deep feelings are taken advantage of, and Kain and Cecil will be standing on opposing sides.

In battle, Kain is very useful, even if he can't use magic - his attacks are strong and his Jump command can be used to great effect, allowing him to skip damage for a turn while he's in the air, and then dealing out double to the enemy. He can equip swords, but as a Dragoon, spears are the way to go.

And yeah, because I might not have mentioned this before: Kain is awesome.

What the deuce is a fanlisting?!

A fanlisting is an online list of fans of a particular subject. It's a fun way to show your love for a certain character, or musician, or whatever the topic is. To join, all you need to enter is your name, email address and country. If you own a website feel free to add it, but that part is optional.
